BDRC Continental have surveyed 500 private Landlords and have found that despite optimism raising for the fifth consecutive quarter and being at its highest level since 2007 the market remains challenging. The research also indicated most Landlords do not intend to change the level of rent in the next 3 months.
Landlords report that despite signs of recovery and stabilization many are suffering from the following:
- Voids
- Rental arrears – the research indicated that 34% of landlords had been affected by arrears in the last 12 months. This is apparently the highest figure the survey has ever recorded.
However despite the above:-
- 79% of landlords questioned said they were in profit an increase from 2009.
- 57% of those surveyed believed prospects for the next three months were good
Do you agree with the research? Please feel free to add your comments.
